| Measures discussed for traffic regulation along NH | | | Early Times Report RAMBAN, JULY 3: District Development Commissioner, Ramban, Mr K B Magotra today convened a meeting of various officers of different departments to discuss precautionary measures necessary for preventing frequent road accidents particularly on National Highway (NH). During the meeting, various suggestions and measures were put-forth by the concerned officers to prevent road accidents thus saving precious lives of passengers who fall prey to such unfortunate incidents. The DDC stressed upon the traffic police and police officers to strictly implement the traffic rules and punish the drivers who ply their vehicles carelessly without any concern for their passengers. Interacting with the concerned officers and private vehicle operators, the DDC informed that all possible measures should be taken to save the people from accidental deaths. He asked the police officers deployed on NH to check overloading in passengers vehicles, which is the main cause behind major. He said that sometimes it has been observed that some untrained conductors drive the buses in absence of the drivers resulting in major accidents. He asked the concerned to keep a strict vigil over such over such acts and book the responsible under law. To provide quick relief to victims of the accidents, the DDC also decided that a QRT (Quick Response Team) shall be constituted comprising traffic police, local police, medical department, civil defence, voluntary organizations, army, BRO, PHE and fire services, headed by the Naib Tehsildar at Panthal and Peera soon. The meeting also stressed upon the need of complete coordination between various concerned agencies entrusted with the job of implementation of traffic rules. Among others, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Chief Planning Officer, Chief Medical Officer and other senior officers of civil and police departments were present on the occasion.
