Early Times Report

Srinagar/Jammu, July 3: Bodies of six Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) militants, who were buried alive under an avalanche in Gurez sector in March, were recovered, a Defence Ministry spokesman said here today.
Meanwhile, a group of Hizbum Mujahideen militants killed their surrendered associate in Kishtwar while another militant was killed in an encounter in Kupwara district.
The militants were part of the group of 120 militants and guides who crossed over to this side from Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) in Gurez and other sectors in north Kashmir in March this year.
However, six to eight militants were buried alive under a huge snow avalanche in the sector which experienced more than 15 feet of snow in March.
The bodies could not be retrieved due to heavy accumulation of snow, he said.
''Now, when the snow had started melting six bodies of militants were recovered,'' he said adding search in the area was still going on to recover more bodies, if any.
He said the terrorists were well equipped and wearing warm cloths while infiltrating through snow-laden ridge lines in very low temperatures.
The spokesman said six AK rifles, which were carried by them, have been recovered so far.
The Defence authorities had claimed that 32 infiltrators were killed while more than 60 guides and those carrying weapons have fled to the PoK.
In another incident, a group of Hizb-ul-Mujaheedin (HM) militants killed their surrendered associate, while one person got injured when they opened fire in the mountainous Kishtwar district, official sources said here today.
Militants killed one of their surrendered associate and injured a villager late last night in Tunder-Dachhan area, official sources told UNI.
They said some armed militants barged into the house of Abdul Majid Ganoo, a surrendered Hizbul Mujahideen militant and opened fire, killing him on the spot.
Ganoo had surrendered before the security forces in February 2008.
However, another villager Tariq Hussain, son of Abdul Gafoor, present there, also got injured in the firing, sources said adding militants later fled the spot and also kidnapped one Nazir Ahmed, son of Mohammad Ramzan.
Meanwhile, two local porters, working with Army, were drowned in Kishan Ganga river near the Line of Control (LoC) in Gurez sector, official sources said.
They said 20-year-old Altaf Ahmad Khan and 30-year-old Jabbar Khan Habibullah slipped and fell down into the river when they were working on a bridge.
The river flows into Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) where it is called Neelam river, they added.
They said body of Altaf was fished out from the river while search for Jabbar was in progress.
