Jammu, July 3: As PS Gill takes over the charge of Director General of Police in Punjab, the anti-corruption watchdog of Jammu and Kashmir, the Vigilance Organisation is looking for a chief third time in last ten months. PS Gill who Friday became the new director general of Punjab Police, taking charge from his elder brother and acting police chief RS Gill was until recently Commissioner of Jammu and Kashmir Vigilance Organisation, he post he was holding since January this year. The Vigilance Organisation, it may be recalled here, assumed huge prominence after 2002 and when Congress-Peoples Democratic Party declared a war against corruption. It became focus of all attention after November 2005 when the then Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad announced weeding out corruption from public life as his top most agenda. Till August last year Dr Ashok Bhan was the Commissioner of the Vigilance Oraginsation when he promoted and posted as Director General of Crime Investigation Department. Dr RV Raju then took over as Vigilance chief and manned the post till January this year when he proceeded on central deputation to head the newly formed NIA. With Gill’s deputation to Punjab, the post of Vigilance Commissioner in Jammu and Kashmir has fallen vacant third time in last ten months. Sources said that CID chief Dr Ashok Bhan is likely to be given additional charge of the Vigilance Organisation.
