Several functions mark celebrations of 63rd ID across Jammu region

Jammu, Aug 15- Several functions marked the celebrations of 63rd Independence Day across Jammu region with hoisting of tricolor. Various political and social organizations, besides the educational institutions organized functions at their respective institutions and hoisted the National Flag. The speakers at these functions remembered all those martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the cause of the Nation.
On this auspicious occasion BJP State President Ashok Khajuria hoisted the National tricolor at party headquarters in presence of senior leaders and party activists.
While remembering the great sacrifices of freedom fighters, who laid down their lives for the independence of motherland, Khajuria said that it is our duty to ensure that no one dares to pose any threat to the unity and integrity of the country. He said during all these years of independence, our country has made progress in many fields.
Today when the Nation is celebrating Independence Day the policy makers in the country should concentrate on "Aam Aadmi-centric" programs and policies so that the problems are faced by the people are redressed and the country marches towards a new era of development and progress.
Khajuria said that our state which is passing through hard times because of 19 year long militancy and the government should now honestly take effective steps to mitigate the sufferings of the people. It should treat all the three regions of the state equally in all matters and at all levels if it is really committed for the welfare of the state. He advised the state government not to provoke the people of Jammu on the issue of setting up of Central University. It should be established in Jammu as it has been sanctioned for Jammu only, he added.
Arora Bans Sabha President Ramesh Arora, along with office bearers of the Sabha, including Deputy. SP City Swatantar Arora, today hoisted National Flag at Kachi Chawni Chowk and greeted people on this auspicious occasion..
The management, staff and students of L S Academy, Bri-Kamila celebrated the Day with patriotic fervor. Principal Bharti Slathia unfurled the National Flat and took salute at the march past of the contingents of the school children who were smartly dressed. The staff and the students spoke on the relevance and importance of the Independence Day highlighting the sacrifices made by our leaders and took a pledge to be the good citizens of our country. The junior school children sang number of Patriotic songs to express their patriotism. Sweets were distributed to all children and staff members.
Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party celebrated the Day with gaiety and fervour today. At Jammu, National Flag was hoisted in the state headquarters Rajinder Bazar and Chairman’s office at Gandhi Nagar, Jammu where large number of party workers joined the function. On the invitation of Panthers Rehri Union Railway Station, the party leaders hoisted National Flag at Railway station, Jammu.
Rajinder Bazar Trader’s Welfare Association celebrated the Day in simple but impressive manner. Association Chairman Krishan Lal Gupta unfurled the National Flag.
J&K State Unit of Rashtriya Krantikari Samajwadi Party celebrated the 63rd Independence Day with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervor. The National tricolor was hoisted by the state president of the party Tanveer Hussain Babzada. He also paid tributes to the martyrs and freedom fighters that made supreme sacrifices for the country. Other members of the party were also present on the occasion.
Government Higher Secondary School, Gharota also celebrated the Day with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervor. The Principal of the school HL Bhagat hoisted the National flag and also paid rich tributes to the martyrs and freedom fighters.
J&K Samaj Kalyan Kendra, a non governmental and social charitable organization, organized a function at Kendra Secondary School for hearing/speech handicapped Boys and Girls with great enthusiasm and fervor. The function was attended by large number of students along with their parents and guardians. President J&K Samaj Kalyan Kendra, Inderjeet Khjauria unfurled the National Flag on the occasion.
J&K Tourism Development Corporation Employees Union celebrated 63rd Independence Day at Tourist Reception Centre where General Manager JKTDC SK Gupta hoisted the National flag.
Water Works (PHE) Employees Association has celebrated the Day at PHE Pumping Station Sub Div-I company Bagh where Chief Engineer VK Abrol, unfurled the National tricolor. The function among others was also attended by the President Water Works (PHE) Employees Association, Shiv Kumar Sharma and other officers.
Jammu University too celebrated the Independence Day with patriotic fervor and gaiety. Vice Chancellor Varun Sahni hoisted the National flag and released the balloons.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Sahni congratulated one and all and stated that we have to grow from strength to strength as Nation. Each one of us must contribute in nation building in our humble ways. He also paid tributes to the martyrs who laid down their lives for our present future. He also exhorted the University fraternity to work fervently for the nation as well as for the Institution.
All J&K State Christian Forum J&K State celebrated Independence Day at Ambhalla Chowk where Forum President Marke Gill unfurled the national flag.
He along with the other members also distributed sweets among poor, old and widows. Forum has also organized langar for poor and general public on the occasion.
State Central Labour Union (SCLU) also held a function to celebrate the Day. President of the SCLU Nar Singh hoisted the tricolor. The function was attended by thousands of employees.
Congratulating the people on 62 Independence Day, president National Mazdoor Conference Subash Shastri, while hoisting the National flag said, the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters for this day will be written in golden letters and as such we should not forget them.
Employees of power grid corporation of India, northern region system 11 celebrated the day with gaiety and enthusiasm. The national flag was hoisted by addl. general manager Danish Chandra. On the occasion several cultural, patriotic and sports items were presented by the children of the employees. Prizes were also given to the participants.
NHPC, a government of India enterprise and CISF personal jointly celebrated the Independence Day function. Executive director Jatinder Singh hoisted the tri-colour on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Singh recalled the martyrs of freedom moment and asked the employees to work with dedication for progress and prosperity of the nation. The function concluded with distribution of sweets among the employees.
A similar function was organized at Dulhasti power station of NHPC limited where V.K. Singh general manager hoisted the national flag.
The BJP, MLA, of RS Pura Garu Bhagat hoisted the national flag at Indra nagar, Miran Sahib. Speaking on the occasion Bhagat re-called the sacrifices of the freedom fighters and urged upon the people particularly to youth be vigilant against the forces bentupon to create hurdles in nation progress. The function was attended by large number of people of the area included shopkeepers union.
District congress committee, Doda celebrated the day with great enthusiasm and fervour Naresh Gupta, district congress president hoisted the tri-colour in main bazaar of the town. Among who took part in the celebration was Shiv Kumar, Bashir Ahmad Wani, Kulbushan Singh, Dharampal Dogra, S. Malik, Ab. Qayoom Khan, Taskeen Bhat, Abdul Jafiz Butt, Vijay Kumar, Omkar Singh, Ravi Pardeep etc.
Shiv Sena Hindustan workers celebrated the 63rd independence day at party office were the national flag was hoisted by the party chairman Vipan Hindu. On the occasion tributes were paid to those freedom fighters who laid their lives during freedom struggle. Fruits and sweets were distributed among the people present on the occasion.
Pradesh Janta Dal, united, state president, Inder Mohinder Tar Singh un-furled the national flag at party office. The function was attended by large number of workers. Singh urged upon the people be vigilant and raise voice against corruption and identify the corrupt people.

Yuva Janta Dal United today organized a function at its office premises in Channi Himat where its President Jaba Singh Rissam hoisted the National flag.
The Independence Day function was also held at Akhnoor Sub division where SDM Saugat Biswas unfurled the tricolor and took salute at the march past. Brigadier Sudhir Lanba, Commander 10 Arty Brigade was the guest of honour
On this occasion school children presented a variety program.
At Kathua the Minister of State for Cooperative Dr. Manohar Lal Sharma unfurled the national tri- color and took salute at a mega parade comprising of above 50 contingents drawn from CRPF, District Police Men/Women, Police Training School, NCC, Forest Protection Force and tiny platoons from various Government as well as private institutions besides Army pipers.
At Hiranagar, MLA, Hiranagar, Durga Dass unfurled the national flag and took salute at a march past by the contingents of Police, NCC and school children.
A colorful cultural program was also presented on the occasion by the school children.
At Basohli, MLA, Basholi, Jagdish Raj Sapolia unfurled the national flag and took salute from the contingents at Jawahar Navodya Vidhyalaya.
At Billawar, SDM, Billawar, hoisted the national Flag and took salute from the march past in the main function organized at Government Higher secondary School, Billawar. Colorful cultural program was also presented on the occasion by the school children.
At Bani, SDM, Vivek Sharma hoisted the National Flag and took salute from the march past. The students of different schools presented colourful cultural program on the occasion.
At Majalta, the Day was celebrated with gaiety and patriotism in the premises of Govt. HSS Majalta where MLA Ramnagar, Harsh Dev Singh hoisted the National flag and took salute at the march past of contingents drawn from various educational institutions of Majalta tehsil. Cultural program was also presented by the school children.
Tehsildar, Majalta, Sapna Kotwal, Teshil Officers, Principal of the host school, teachers, school children, prominent citizens and people in large number were present on the occasion
At Chenani, the Independence Day main function was held in the premises of Government HSS Chenani, where MLA Chenani, Krishan Chander Bhagat was the chief guest on the occasion who unfurled Tricolour and took salute at the march past presented by 10 contingents drawn from various schools of the tehsil..Tehsildar Chenani, Visheshpal Mahajan, President Municipal Committee, Mohan Lal Gupta, Councilors, prominent citizens, teachers, students and people in large number were present to witness the national function.
At Basantgarh, Sub- Divisional Magistrate, S. Avtar Singh unfurled the National Flag in the premises of Government Higher Secondary School, Basantgarh,. The students presented a colourful cultural program which was highly appreciated by the audience.
At Ramnagar, Tehsildar Ramnagar, Sanjeev Sharma hoisted the Tricolour at a main function held in the premises of Government HSS, Ramnagar and took salute at the march past presented by the NCC and schools students of various educational institutions. Tehsil Officers of different departments, prominent citizens, teachers, students and people in large number were present on the occasion. Cultrual program presented by students was highly liked by the audience.
At Katra, Additional Chief Executive Officer, SMVD, Katra, Mandeep Bhandari unfurled the National flag and took salute at an impressive march past of 17 contingents drawn from various educational institutions held in the premises of Govt. HSS Katra, today. A colourful cultural programme was also presented by the students on the occasion.
At Gool, Settlement Teshildar hoisted the National flag at GHSS premises and Naib Tehsildar, Panchari in the premises of GHSS, Panchari, today where a large number of school students and audience were present to witness the function.
Govt. HSS, Damnote in hilly Bhamag area also celebrated the National function with patriotic spirit and gaiety where the Principal of the host school, V.K. Hangloo hoisted the Triclour
Socialistic Democratic Party and Kargil Shaheed Bahadur Singh Memorial Committee jointly organized function at Shaheed Bahadur Singh Memorial Park Digiana in Jammu where SDP President Dr Darakhshan Andrabi unfurled the national flag in presence of large gathering.
SDP president later distributed clothes and food packets among the poor. A langar was also arranged by SDP.
Garden Avenue welfare Association also celebrated Independence day with great fervor and gaiety in which large no of people participated.
Jammu Kashmir People Front Chairman Satish Poonchi distributed sweets among the children in a function.
