| R&B Minister releases Rs 1.80 Cr for Bhaderwah roads | | | Early Times Report Srinagar Sep 13: Reiterating the resolve of the Government to expand the road connectivity to inaccessible areas, particularly in hilly and far off villages, Minister for R&B, Mr. G.M. Saroori said that a massive developmental plan has been formulated to improve basic amenities besides medicare facilities for the people in the State. The Minister was addressing a public gathering at Baderwah. Minister of State for Cooperatives, Printing and Stationery (independent charge) Dr. Manohar Lal and MLC, Mr. Naresh Kumar Gupta also accompanied the Minister. On arrival at Baderwah, a warm reception was accorded to the ministers. A grand reception was also accorded to the ministers at Pul-Doda, Pranoo, Malnai, Bhalla, Serri, Drudoo, Dranga, Amira Nagar, Gatha, and Udrana villages. Mr Saroori said that Rs. 5.20 crore have been earmarked for construction of 10 kms Malnai-Chkrabhati road , adding the work of the road would be started shortly. On public demand, Mr. Saroori released Rs. 1.80 Crore for extension of Chakrabhati road up to Brassu and asked the engineers to submit the DPRs of the project so that work is started early. The Minister said that funds for construction of Baderwah-Chamba road has already been released, besides Rs. 15 crore for Marmat-Sudmahadev and Rs. 73 lac for Khellani-Goha roads. Mr Saroori said that for improvement and upgradation of interior roads in Baderwah town, Rs. 2.25 crore have already been released, adding that Rs. 25 crore have been earmarked for 25 road projects to connect unconnected habitations through road network. Mr. Saroori also took stock of the ongoing work of Ganpat and Neeru bridges being constructed on Chinab river and Neeru Nallah. He was informed that the Ganpat bridge coming up at a cost of Rs. 29 crore would be ready by Dec, 2010. Exhorting upon the engineers to monitor the work and use quality material as per set specifications, Mr. Saroori impressed upon the executing agencies to speed up the work and complete the bridges within stipulated time frame. Dr. Manohar, while addressing the gathering, said that government is committed to work for over all development of the state, adding welfare of the people was high on agenda of the Government. Underlining the need for strengthening the cooperative societies, the Minister said that Government is contemplating to provide financial assistance to every cooperative society to make them more profit generating units. Mr. Naresh Gupta said that the liberal funding of the Centre would change the developmental scenario of the State, adding that all out efforts would be made for betterment of socio economy of the people.
