| Veteran musician, poet Janbaz Kishtwari remembered | | |

Legendary Kashmiri poet and renowned musician Ghulam Nabi Doolwal popularly known as Janbaz Kishtwari was remembered in a special cultural meet jointly organized by Friends Association of Kishtwar and Chalant Cultural Forum here today.
The programme was presided over by Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo, Member Legislative Assembly while GR Bhagat, Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar was the Chief Guest on the occasion. SSP Kishtwar and a number of local Kashmiri scholars and intellectuals were also present on the occasion.
On the occasion, speakers highlighted the contributions of Janbaz Kishtwari.
Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo said that Doolwal was inventor most popular Chalant tradition of Kashmiri music. He said that the contribution of late poet will be remembered for centuries together.
G R Bhagat in his address said that the best way to pay tributes to Janbaz Kishtwari is to carry forward his work and mission. He said that Janbaz was a great musician of the area who had contributed his whole life for promotion of Kashmiri language.
He also impressed upon State Cultural Academy, Radio Kashmir and Doordarshan to work jointly for preservation of works of Janbaz Kishtwari.
Ishaq Ahmed and party, Meraj-ud-din and party, Ghulam Hussain and party,Anil Kumar and group and Ashok Kumar and party presented the Kalam of Janbaz Kishtwari on the occasion.
