Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 11-The National Secular Forum (NSF) has threatened to shut the entire examination process of the whole campus from January 14 onwards if the culprits of the infamous marks tampering and mass copying episode were not booked and punished by the authorities of University of Jammu (JU) at the earliest.
Addressing a press conference at JU here today, Vikas Sharma, NSF president served a final ultimatum to the University authorities to act according to the wishes of stakeholders and restore transparency in the functioning in the University affairs before the deadline of January 14 otherwise no examination will be allowed to take place on campus there onwards.
Sharma said that students have been on the path of agitation since a month asking the Vice Chancellor to save the image of University from further deterioration as its reputation has been damaged very badly due to the episodes of mass copying and marks tampering. He also questioned the logic behind the establishment of proposed police post on the campus and strongly opposed the same.
He stated the society in general and students in particular, have been losing faith in the examination system of the University owing to which the examination being conducted by the Examination Section is meaningless and worthless. “So, we have decided to oppose the conduct of examination from January 14 onwards if the Vice Chancellor fails to clear the mess prevailing in his administrative system.”
He further said that silence of the Governor who is also the Chancellor Governor of the University over the whole issue was also raising doubts over his involvement in the University affairs being the supreme head of this Institution. “The students want to ask the Governor that why he is so isolated from the University affairs and not taking cognizance of the incidents and protests in the University. Is he not responsible to University in any way,” he questioned?
Sharma also took a dig at the Vice Chancellor questioning that why he is not making any statement over the acts of corruption in the University. “He must clear as to how and why mark tampering and mass copying occurred and also why the persons responsible for these acts were not booked and punished,’ he added.
Mohammed Maqeem Ansariba JU unit president, Vikram Singh, Sunny Babber and Sanjay Sharma, JU unit chairman were also present at the press conference
