| Vailoo road to be all season | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu January 14: Briefing media persons about details of the decision to construct 4.50 kms Vailoo-Singpour tunnel at Chatroo, connecting twin districts of Kishtwar and Anantnag, the Minister for R&B, Mr. G.M.Saroori, today, said this people–friendly measure is yet another bold initiative of the coalition Government to assuage aspirations of the people.
Mr. Saroori said that the tunnel coming up in private public partnership (PPP) between the Government and J&K Bank, would be completed within one and a half year at a cost of Rs. 400 crore.
The Minister said that the proposed tunnel would not only reduce the travel distance but will also remain open throughout the year for vehicular traffic thus serving as an alternate to Srinagar-Jammu national highway. He said it will explore new ways for developing Sinthantop as an attractive tourist destination.
Complimenting Chief Minister, Mr. Omar Abdullah for this historical decision, Mr. Saroori said the decision would open new hopes for the people. He said construction of tunnels at Bandipora, Kupwara and Zojila are in the process of approval, and hoped that decision in this regard was expected shortly.
Minister for Education, Peerzada Mohammad Syed was also present on the occasion.
