| BSF's bark does not match bite | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 14: After its DIG O P Tanwar was killed by a booby trap by infiltrators in Ramgarh sub-sector on November 17 last, the angered BSF had warned the Pak Rangers in a Flag Meeting of a stern repulsive action if militants attempted more intrusion bids in future.
Few days later, ie on November 26, five BSF jawans were hurt in an IED blast triggered by infiltrators again in Ramgarh. And, since then the Pak-based militants have attempted at least 10 forced infiltration bids on the International Border (IB).
However, following yesterday's three forced infiltration from the Tent outpost area in Kanhachak, BSF today repeated its November 17 warning in yet another Flag Meeting and the Rangers as usual expressed their ignorance about any act of infiltration or ceasefire violation by them.
The Rangers know well that BSF won't be able to do anything to stop militants from attacking the barbed-fire fencing during night hours as its patrol parties and ambush teams were always on the Indian side of the fence.
Official sources said today's Flag Meeting was held at Tent outpost in which BSF strongly resented the abrupt increase in intrusion bids in the past few days.
The Rangers were asked to take effective measures to prevent infiltration into India and arrest non-state actors roaming freely in their area in the close proximity of the IB.
Sources said after the meeting was over, the Rangers as usual left the venue, saying they would look into the BSF allegations.
Like the previous Flag Meetings, this meeting would also prove to be reduntant as Pakistan would continue to push militants into the Indian territory to keep the pot boiling here, the sources added.
So to ensure that its bark matched its bite, BSF needed to act on the ground instead of firing words on them.
