Houselisting & Housing Census-2011 from May 15

JAMMU, FEBRUARY 06 -Houselisting and Housing Census 2011 is being conducted in Jammu in two phases starting from May 15, 2010 in accessible or inaccessible (snow bound) areas.
Discussing the details of Census operations, 2010 in Jammu with the senior officers of Census department in a meeting convened here today, the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Dr Pawan Kotwal took stock of the preparations particularly involvement of other departments in the smooth conduct of the entire process. It was apprised that Census of India, 2010 would be conducted in two phases in accessible areas. In phase-I houselisting and housing Census and canvassing of household schedule of National Population Register (NPR) would be done between May 15 to June 30 while in phase-II population enumeration would be completed from February to March, 2010.
Giving details of the houselisting and housing schedule and calendar of important events of works, the concerned Census officer asserted that it is an opportunity for state government to adopt Census house numbering for permanent address system in rural areas. It was informed that District Development Commissioner’s of all districts would be designated as Principal Census Officers within their respective districts while Additional DDC’s of the districts would be District Census Officers within their jurisdiction besides the Municipal Commissioner would also function as Principal Census Officers within the limits of their Municipal Corporation.
Asking the officers of concerned departments to render every possible assistance and cooperation to Directorate of Census J&K for speedy completion of the process, Dr Kotwal said that necessary instructions in this regard would also be issued to them.
Deputy Commissioner, Jammu would issue orders to all tehsildars to coordinate, provide list of supervisors and enumerators and conduct periodical inspection of field work relating to houselisting operations and NPR, Chief Conservations of Forests would deploy forest officials for conducting census of India, 2011 in forest areas and Director of School Education would provide enumerators, supervisors and identify master trainers for imparting necessary training to enumeration agency.
Commissioner, JMC would also provide enumerators and supervisors and also latest would ward wise, mohalla wise map of JMC for caving out of enumeration blocks.
Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, Mr M K Dwivedi, Commissioner, JMC, Mr Mubarak Singh, Director Census Operations, J&K, Farooq Ahmed, Chief Conservator Forests and senior officers of Education, Rural development were present on the occasion
