| Dy CM reviews physical, financial achievements in Samba | | | Early Times Report Jammu February 06- Deputy Chief Minister, Mr. Tara Chand, who is also chairman of the District Development Board, Samba today reviewed physical and financial achievements registered in the district at a preliminarily review meeting of officers of the district administration. The Deputy Chief Minister took detailed review of current year’s annual plan for the district and reviewed sector wise achievements of the development programmes and progress achieved under various centrally sponsored schemes. The Deputy Chief Minister enjoined upon the officers to speed up the work on different ongoing schemes. He exhorted upon the executing agencies to have the works completed within stipulated time. Mr. Tara Chand stressed upon implementing agencies of various developmental and centrally sponsored schemes to work with zeal and dedication and have the targets achieved in full to provide benefits to the people at grass root level at an earliest. Mr. Tara Chand asked the officers of district administration to hear the people and have their problems solved and grievances redressed adding that the people have great expectations from the Government. Mr. Tara Chand emphasized the need for development of water resources and the promotion of agriculture and horticulture sector to improve the economic condition of farming community. He directed the officers for the implementation of NAREGA effectively so that besides development of rural areas, employment opportunities for rural people are generated. He also asked for aforestation and providing quality education to the students of the district. The District Development Commissioner, Samba, Mr. Sourabh Bhagat while giving resume of the sector wise achievements said that against availability of Rs. 3516.61 lakhs under current year district plan, the expenditure of Rs. 2819.95 lakhs which works out 80.19% have been utilized for the implementation of various developmental and welfare schemes upto ending January last. He said that an area of 40150 hectares of land has been brought under high yielding variety of different crops. Besides 3964 quintals of HYV seeds of different types was distributed among the farmers apart from distribution of 3850 metric tons of fertilizers. Honey production in the district has been recorded 86.88 quintals. Under district industries sector, 104 units have been registered against an investment of Rs. 2411.26 lakhs providing employment to 283 un-employed youth.
