| MIER celebrates its 74th Foundation Day | | |
Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 6 To commemorate the completion of 74 glorious years of dedicated service in the field of education, Model Institute of Education and Research (MIER) celebrated its foundation day today by organizing an impressive and colourful function at its institute. Minister for Medical and Technical Education, Youth Services and Sports R S Chib was the chief guest on the occasion. The function was presided over by Dr. Arun K. Gupta Chairman, MIER group of institutions. On his arrival the chief guest was accorded a warm reception by the Chairman, Director and was presented a guard of honour by the NCC cadets and scouts and guides of Model Academy. Two tiny tots of Model Academy presented bouquet to the Chief Guest. Thereafter, R S Chib paid rich tributes to the founders of MIER late Prof. H.L. Gupta and Prof. Shanti Gupta by laying floral wreaths at their portrait. While speaking on the occasion R S Chib lauded the role of MIER in spreading quality education and for producing enlightened citizens equipped with the necessary skills to assume leadership role in all walks of life. He further described the yeoman service rendered by MIER to the society and the state as exemplary and observed that the institution had become mature enough to function as a university. Earlier, Dr. Arun K. Gupta formally welcomed the chief guest and described him as a son of the soil and a worthy representative of Dogra traditions, heritage and culture. On this occasion a cultural extravaganza was presented by the students of the Institute which included Children’s dance by Humming Buds, Mime presentation, Latin American Dance ‘Salsa’, Tandav Nritya, Comic Skit besides Patriotic, Popular and Punjabi Dances. The chief guest also presented a gold medal to Deepak Dilwaria a student of MIER College of Education for topping in the B.Ed annual examination of the University of Jammu. He also released the annual newsletter of the Model Institute of Engineering & Technology titled ‘INTRANET’ which highlights the achievements of the engineering college of MIER.
