| Saroori releases ‘Virasat’ | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 7: Minister for Roads and Buildings G M Saroori today released book titled ‘Virasat’ authored by Alhaj Mohd Shafi Sheikh of Bhaderwah in a function. The function was organized by J&K Urdu Forum and Makerh Kashmiri Literary Society Jammu. The book release function was presided over by ex-MP Sheikh Abdul Rehman whereas as G.M Saroori and Abdul Aziz Butt, ex Registrar J&K University graced the occasion as chief guest and guest of honour respectively. Appreciating rich cultural and literary heritage of the erstwhile Doda district, Saroori remembered the contribution of Kamgar Kishtwari, Rasa Javedavi, Shokat Faridi, Nishat Kishtwari, Ghulam Nabi Doolwal and Aseer Kishtwari in the field of Kashmiri and Urdu literature. Congratulating the author of Virasat for bringing out a comprehensive book on the cultural heritage, Saroori said that the J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages should bring all far-flung areas of Jammu region in the orbit of its activities and give justice to all. Abdul Aziz Batt, Sheikh Abdul Rehman lauded the efforts and dedications of Mohd Shafi Sheikh, who being only primary pass brought out a book, which has thrown a challenge for the highly qualified people. Earlier Aseer Kishtwari, president of J&K Urdu Forum Jammu, in his welcome address pin-pointed the step-motherly treatment at the hand of Cultural Academy, Information Department, Doordarshan and Radio to the writers of far-flung areas in general and Doda area in particular.
