| JMC seize 35 kg polythene bags | | | Early Times report Jammu, Feb 20: Intensifying the drive to curb the menace of polythene carry bags, the field staff of enforcement wing with the help of Police Force carried out drive and visited the areas of Narwal and Channi Himmat Colony. During the drive about 35 kg of Polythene carry bags were seized from the shops other outlets and 16 numbers of defaulters were challenged for using the Polythene carry bags which have been banned by the state government. An amount of Rs 5000/- was charged as fine from the defaulters on spot. Also, the staff removed an encroachment by demolishing the pillars, removed and seized the gate which was being fixed by encroaching upon lane in block, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu. Besides this, the team of food inspectors led by Health Officer, Jammu Municipal Corporation continued the drive against the adulteration in commonly used food articles and a sequel to it, on the instructions of Comioner, JMC a special checking of edible oils in the various markets of Jammu city was carried out. About 70 wholesale and retail edible oil points were checked and 9 samples of different brands of edible oils were lifted during the drive from the areas of Ware House, Kanak Mandi, Kachi Chowni, Talab Tillo etc and sent to public analyst Jammu for analysis.
