| Contractor gets Rs 68 lakh punch for delay | | | Early Times Report
Jammu Feb 20: Perhaps in first such case known so far, a contractor got a punch of Rs 68 lakh surety deposits for failing to complete works in time.
For non- performance in Prime Ministers’ Gram Sarak Yojna (PMGSY) projects, in Baramulla district, the Government has forfeited bank guarantee of Rs. 68 lakh of M/S. Jay Kay SAM Construction Company.
Appreciating for the bold step taken by the Chief Engineer, PMGSY, Kashmir, the Minister for R&B, Mr. G.M.Saroori said that all other such non-performing contractors and constructions companies, besides defaulters, should be given the same treatment. He instructed the engineers of the department to prepare a list of such contractors and companies who do not fulfill the requirements of the projects.
