| Jawan shoots colleague dead in Doda | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 20: In a rarest incident of its kind, if not the first in the two-decade-old militant history of the state, a Rashtriya Rifles (RR) jawan gunned down his colleague near Pul-Doda in Doda today. The jawans were part of a road opening party (ROP) of 8 RR,which was sanitising the Doda-Kishtwar road near Pul-Doda at about 7.30 am. Police sources said while searching for explosives, if any, on the Doda-Kishtwar stretch of the road, sepoys -- Gurjan Singh and M P Yadav -- had heated arguments over some issue. The altercation took an ugly turn with Gurjan turning his service rifle at Yadav, allegedly shooting him dead, the sources added. The other soldiers, who were part of the ROP, later overpowered Gurjan and handed him over to police. Army has ordered a court of inquiry into the incident.
