Not a ‘single inch’ land for Pakistan in J&K: Gadkari
‘Terror and talks just cannot go together’
2/27/2010 12:01:57 AM

EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Feb 26: Warning the Centre and State Governments against any attempt to accomplish the surrender policy proposal mooted by the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today said it would not allow anybody to give “a single inch of land” of Jammu and Kashmir to neighbouring country under pressure.
“The United States in particular sees Pakistan as a useful ally in Afghanistan. It is least concerned with its ally fomenting trouble on its eastern border. To give comfort to Pakistan, efforts are on to compel India to dilute its conventional position on Jammu and Kashmir,” Nitin Gadkari, BJP national president told reporters here this afternoon.
He said that the statement of Union Home Minister and the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir that persons from across the Line of Control should be allowed to come back to India are highly disturbing.
“Any such move would legitimize infiltration which is already on the increase. There is pressure to pull out and dilute security presence in Valley. All these steps are intended to dilute India’s control over Jammu and Kashmir State and the BJP would never accept this demand,” Gadkari said.
He vowed, “I promise to the people of the country and Jammu that BJP will support and back you. No one will dare to bring back Pakistani people to Jammu and Kashmir. We will not allow this to happen.”
Maintaining that the situation in Punjab and J&K are entirely different, the BJP chief said, “Khalistan movement is at the verge of its end while the militancy in Jammu and Kashmir is increasing day by day which does not allow any Government to bring back the militants to its territory.
“The return of Sikh demands should be seen in positive aspect. If the Sikh youths want to join mainstream, they should be allowed as the Khalistan movement is at the verge of its end,” he maintained.
Describing Foreign Secretary level talks between India and Pakistan as “futile and “produced almost nothing”, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today said the outcome has substantiated the party’s stand that “terror and talks just cannot go together.”
“BJP is least surprised about the fact that the Indo-Pak dialogue held yesterday has produced almost nothing, and expectedly Pakistan is remorseless,” Nitin Gadkari, BJP national president told reporters here this afternoon.
“This has substantiated the considered position of BJP that terror and talks cannot just go together,” Gadkari said.
He maintained his party believes in good neighbourly relations with Pakistan. “Pakistan should hand over those who are wanted in India for terrorism related crimes, besides dismantling of terrorist camps on its soil is a pre-requisite for any meaningful dialogue with that country,” he said.
“Unless Pakistan proves that it fights against terrorism and takes action against those involved (in such activities), we cannot believe that Pakistan has changed its mind,” Gadkari said.
He also called for respectful and dignified rehabilitation of migrated Kashmir Pandits, Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) refugees and complete constitutional integration of the country.
