Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 22: Accusing the National Conference led coalition government of failure at all fronts, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president, Mahbooba Mufti has said that the government was taking credit for projects conceived and completed by the former PDP-Congress government. She was addressing a gathering here today. Presenting strong arguments to prove her claims, Mahbooba said: "National Conference has been taking credit for starting Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University at Rajouri and Islamic University at Awantipura. However, before Omar assumed office of the Chief Minister, two batches had already passed their respective degrees from these institutions."
National Conference, she said, wants cheap publicity. "However, the government cannot fool the people by such cheap tactics", she said. Mahbooba also contested Omar Abdullah's claim on completion of Mughal Road project. "Omar Abdullah took charge on January 5, 2009 and the government claimed completion of the project in the month of October 2009. The people know the project cannot be completed in eleven months. They also know who arranged additional funds for the road and who started work on the project", she said. Mahbooba said the government would have done a favour to the state had it done the necessary follow up of the projects of the previous regime." But this regime gratifies itself by taking credit of projects started by the previous regime", she accused.
The PDP chief said that the present government had failed to carry forward the agenda of peace and development pioneered and initiated by the previous government. Mahbooba made a mention of non-availability of ration. "People are starving and the indifferent government is totally unmoved", she said.
