14 workshops, three trucks, one minibus gutted in fire | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, May 14: Fourteen workshops and four vehicles, including three trucks and a minibus, were gutted in a devastating fire at Kunjwani near Gangyal here in the wee hours of Friday morning. Estimated loss was put at lakhs of rupees. All the workshops were set up in kiosks, police sources said. Two of them belonged to Ram Singh and four each to Subash Chander, Joginder and his brother Bittu. Quoting eyewitness Satnam, a watchman in the area, sources said fire broke out in one of the workshops at about 2.35 am possibly due to short-circuit and soon spread to the adjoining 13 structures one after the other. A LPG cylinder, lying in one of the workshops , also exploded as a result of which the flames rose high in the air and engulfed three trucks (JK02W/7835, JK02X/1685 and JK02U / 0087) and a minibus (JK02S/6926) which were parked inside three or four workshops for repairs. The matter was brought to the notice of police by Satnam. Sources said eight fire tenders were pressed into service and the fire was extinguished at about 4.15 am.A case in this connection stands registered at the Gangyal police station.
