| ST/SC students' federation holds meet | | | Early times report
Jammu, May 14: the all J&K SC/ST students' federation has criticized the state government's policy in granting ST status to Pahari people. Addressing the meeting of federation Hag Newag choudhary who chaired it. Said Pahari people lack the criteria whatever is requisite for ST statues. He said demanding ST status on language basis which is dialect and not a full language, while on the basis of language no ST status can be granted. President of federation choudhary further said, Gujjar Bakerwal are the Nationalist and Patriots who have sacrifice their lives for the Nation. Federation warned the Central Govt. and state govt. not to make any mistake by giving ST status to Pahari people. If any announcement is made regarding this.
It may result in emergence of another Naxalism and antinationalism in the state. Federation appealed to the congress President Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh to intervene into the matter and direct the National General secretary Rahul Gandhi and finance Minister Pranab Mukherhji not to take any step that harm the interest of Gujjar and Bakerwal community. Other leaders who also attended the meeting were Muzaffar Choudahry, Sarfaraz, Zulkarnain, Javed Iqbal, Zaheer, Tanveer, Anayat Ali and Saber.
