JAMMU, May 15: Last eight positions has been cleared in the junior snooker event of the ongoing 20th Jammu District Open Billiards and Snooker Championships at Billiards Hall, MA Stadium, here today.
Those entered the quarterfinals stages today included top seed Ishan Choudhary, Abhishek Goswami, Nitin Sharma, Hitesh Pandit, Jaswinder Singh, Burhan Khan and Aseem Ghai.
Earlier, in the pre-quarterfinals played today, Ishan defeated Ankit Gupta in straight frames while Abhishek trounced Arjun Manhas 2-0. Except for Hitesh Pandit and Burhan Khan, all the quarterfinalists had straight sets victories.
Giving information, the organizers of the championships said that the quarterfinals shall be played tomorrow, followed by the semi-finals a day later i.e. on Monday. Today's matches were officiated by markers, Surjit Singh Baloria and Rakesh Sharma.
Meanwhile, the draws for senior snooker event shall take place tomorrow at 2 pm. The entries for the event can still be submitted with markers, Surjeet Singh and Rakesh Sharma before 1 pm tomorrow.
