Recognise degrees of KP youth: ASKPC | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, May 15: All State Kashmiri Pandit Conference (ASKPC)-a frontline organisation of internally displaced Kashmiri Pandits, has demanded that the degrees of KP youth, who have completed their course from private universities, be recognised. Talking to the media persons here, Amar Nath Vaishnavi, president ASKPC expressed concern over "de-recognition" of degrees being completed from private universities by the Service Selection Recruitment Board (SSRB). "It is matter of concern that those displaced youth who applied for the jobs advertised by the SSRB have not been considered for the jobs as they have been told that technical courses done from Punjab Technical University and Sikkim Manipal University are not recognized and valid," the KP leader maintained. Describing it as "yet another brazen and glaring act of discrimination" meted out to the unemployed Kashmiri Pandits youth, he alleged, "Under one pretext or other, it has been the practice of the State government to dilute the employment package to the benefit of the eligible youth to apply for the requisite posts." He said that all of these universities are under the ambit of UGC, DEC and AICTE and question, "If the youth from valley have been given jobs under same qualification, why Hindu youth are being discriminated?" H L Chatta, general secretary ASKPC said, "When all the states of country are duly recognizing the degrees issued by such universities and provide employment to eligible candidates, why such practice is not applicable in this state which has resulted in denial of job opportunities to the unemployed youth." The KP leaders have urged the government to honour SRO-339 vide clause 20.3 which emphatically mentioned that the students who are already admitted in such institutions shall be allowed continue their studies till the conclusion of their academic programme.
