5/15/2010 11:54:21 PM

EARLY TIMES REPORT
SRINAGAR, May 15: National Conference President and Union Minister for New & Renewable Energy, Farooq Abdullah has said that the National Conference - Congress coalition is strong and there are no differences between the two parties who are in alliance in the government.
He said the coalition government in the state is working in close harmony and there are no differences between any of the partners.
Dr Abdullah said National Conference and Congress are in coalition because of their ideological and political agreement and both together are working for the betterment of the state.
Reacting sharply to a news item appearing in one newspaper, Dr Abdullah said the news item is mischievous and designed to project differences in the coalition when none exists. He said such news items are a manifestation of frustration of the opposition which feels isolated and relegated because of the appreciable work being done by the National Conference-Congress coalition in the state.
Dr Abdullah said the National Conference and the Congress government in the state is running smoothly and the performance of the government and the coordination among the partners is evident from the fact that in the last sixteen months of the government there has not been a single incident of discord between the partners and both the partners have taken bold decisions for the welfare of the people of the state with consensus.
He said in the last sixteen months 23 cabinet meetings have taken place in which some major decisions have been taken and there has been no disagreement on any issue within the cabinet, this he said is by itself an index of the smooth functioning of the government and the coordination among the partners.
National Conference President said the four individuals quoted by the said news item have no mandate whatsoever to speak on behalf of the National Conference and any views expressed are their personal views which are not endorsed by the party and its leadership.
He said only the President and the General Secretary of the party are authorized to speak on behalf of the party.
