| Dr Prabhakar appointed Centre's NLM in Punjab | | | JAMMU: Dr N C Prabhakar has been appointed by the central ministry of rural development as national level monitor (NLM) to obeserve and record the implementation of its programmes in Fatehgarh and Patiala districts of Punjab.
Dr Prabhakar, who is now retired and has worked with chief secretary and chief minister's secretariate in the state as officer on special duty, would visit the two Punjab districts and find out whether the selection of beneficiaries under some centrally-sponsored schemes was transparent, unbiased and fair.
He would prepare a detailed report of his findings and then submit it to the rural development ministery in New Delhi.
Some of the schemes to be monitored by him included Mahatama Gandhi National Rural Employment Act, Indira Awas Yojna, Watershed Development Programmes and Rural Water Supply Programme.
