| 7 killed, 7 injured in load carrier-truck collision | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, May 15: Seven persons, including three members of a family, were today killed and as many others injured when a load carrier in which they were travelling collided head-on with a truck on the Jammu-Pathankote national highway at Mangti Morh near Rajbagh in Kathua.
The ill-fated load carrier (JK02AC/8401) was on its way from Vijaypur to Beas where the victims were to attend a religious function.
Police said the the load carrier collided with a truck (PB29/9832) at Mangti Morh at about 7.15 pm, resulting in the instant death of seven persons and injuries to seven others.
The dead were identified as Prakash Chand (65) of Vijaypur, his wife Jeeto Devi (55), their son Suram Chand (26), Kanta Devi, wife Sham Lal of Suankha, Ramo Devi (90), wife of Indru Ram of Phinder, R S Pura, Bansi Lal, son of Chhajju Ram of Chuanga, Suankha, and Rano Devi, wife of Pratap Singh of Batala, Punjab.
The injured -- Sunita Sambyal, Anjali Devi, her sister Anu, Kanta Devi, Sumaro and Sunita -- were admitted to the Kathua district hospital from where following deterioration in their condition, three of them were referred to the GMC Hospital.
A case in this connection stands registered at the Rajbagh police station.
