Retrenched workers organise protest rally | | | Early Times report JAMMU, May 17: Retre-nched workers of Jamuna Alloys Limited under the aegis of Jamuna Alloys Limited Employees and Workers Association organised a protest rally in support of their demands at SIDCO complex Bari Brahmana today. The rally started from the main gate of the factory of Jamuna Alloys amid chanting slogans against the factory administration and in favour of their demands. The rally passed through the market of Bari Brahamana and culminated at the main road. Addressing the protester, president of the association Manjeet Singh stated "we the retrenched workers have been working in Yamuna Alloys for more then 14 without any increment and bonus, and when we demanded our genuine rights, we were retrenched by the factory owners". Manjeet Singh also stated that this was just a start of their protest, if their demands are not met, they will launch a massive protest. Pertinently, the 38 retrenched workers are not allowed to enter the factory premises and police is deployed at the gate of the factory. More then 200 workers of Yamuna Alloys, and other factories participated in the protest rally.Prominent among those who were present on the occasion included Suresh Jamwal, Ramesh Sharma, M.L. Samotra, and Jeet Ram besides others.
