Kotwal inaugurates exhibition on Bee Keeping | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, May 17: A day long conference cum exhibition on Bee Keeping techniques was organized by Apiculture Wing of the Department of Agriculture which was inaugurated by Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Dr. Pawan Kotwal, here today. More than 100 bee keepers from all over the Jammu Division participated. Strategies to be adopted for innovation and growth in Apiculture were the theme of the programme. The programme started by lighting of the traditional lamp by the Divisional Commissioner. Divisional Commissioner in his address said that the farmers have been practicing Bee Keeping in the state since time immemorial but there was a need to adopt innovative and scientific techniques to keep pace with market demand and supply. Kotwal appreciated the efforts of the Agriculture Department for organizing the exhibition which will prove of great help to the bee keepers in learning about various techniques and methods of bee keeping. Director Agriculture Jammu, Ajay Khajuria reflected on the scope and prospects of Bee Keeping in Jammu region and also highlighted the achievements under RKVY and Technology Mission Schemes. He said that present conference cum exhibition was a long felt demand which will continue to be duly addressed in future also at various levels in different districts of the region. Executive Director National Bee Board, Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India, Dr. B.L Saraswati delivered the key note and discussed the bee keeping issues in the state. An exhibition was also organized on the occasion depicting potentials, achievements, various facets of management in bee keeping, including equipments and tools, methods of purity analysis, extraction etc.
