Kullah dwellers protest against MP for allegedly grabbing their land | | | Early Times Report KATHUA, May 17: At least two dozen poor kullah dwellers today protested outside deputy commissioner's office here, alleging that Member of Parliament (MP) Lal Singh had grabbed their land and threatened them of dire consequences if they raised voice against him. In a memorandum submitted to additional deputy commissioner M Raju, they alleged that the MP forced his entry along with 50 armed men in mufti in their kullahs at Karandi Khurd on May 15 at about 11.30 pm and showered abuses on them, threatening them to vacate their lands or get ready for the consequences. They alleged that Lal Singh, who had opened a branch of Delhi Public School at Karandi Khurd, wanted more land for the institution. They said some of the kullahs in which he forcibly entered belonged to Nazir Ahmed, Hassan Din, Talib Hussain, Zarbena, Sapana Akhtar, Zulekha, Gulzar, Begum, Noor Ali, Bushan Chander, Daya Devi, Om Parkash, Punnu Ram, Behari Lal and Tej Ram. They alleged that the MP also threatened to get them framed in fake militancy cases if they dared to raise their voice against him. The protesters, who later dispersed peacefully, urged the district administration to give protection to their lives. They alleged that the MP had also encroached upon some of their land and blocked the way to their kullahs by forcibly raising a wall.
