Militants attack widow's house at Bhaderwah | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, May 17: Militants fired at the house of a widow at Layroth near Bhaderwah in Doda late Sunday night and made an unsuccessful attempt to barge into the house by breaking open a window. Armed militants, suspected to be four in number, last night went to the house of Guddi Devi at Layroth and asked her to open the door. Police sources said when Guddi did not respond, the militants opened heavy volume of fire, targetting the entry door and windows. They also tried to break open a window, but when the family members raised an alarm, they fled, the sources added. At the time of the attack, Guddi was in the house along with her two sisters, son-in-law and the latter's sister. All of them were safe. This was the second militant attack on the family in the last six years. In 2004, militants had shot dead her husband Sunder Lal, suspecting him to an army informer, in their house. Sources said police and army had launched a massive operation in the village forests in search for the militants. Cops were also deployed outside Guddi's house for the protection of the family, the sources added.
