| Expose pernicious designs of secessionists: Chaman | | |

JAMMU, May 18: BJP Legislature Party leader Prof Chaman Lal Gupta has asked the party activists to struggle for solution to the problems facing people and expose the pernicious designs of the secessionists and semi-secessionists as also the dubious role of the Congress, which has been the root cause of many evils in this troubled state, especially in Kashmir valley.
Addressing a meeting of the activists of Udhampur area, Prof Gupta said that in the state coalition, the National Conference is carrying its agenda of to keep distancing this state from rest of India and perpetrate their communal and anti-Jammu moves in a systematic manner but its partners in the coalition, the Congress seems to be interested only in protecting their chairs ignoring all the promises this party had been at the time of elections. In this regard, the BJP leader quoted from the election manifesto of the Congress pointing out that for decentralization of powers "separate Regional Councils for Jammu and Kashmir would be set up" and further devolution of powers to District and Block level councils would be formed to ensure effective participation of people in the democratic system.
He also pointed out that the Congress had promised to bring a bill in the Assembly seeking to constitute Delimitation Commission for delimiting the Assembly constituencies to ensure just distribution of Assembly seats.
Besides making so many other lofty promises of providing jobs and grant of stipends to the unemployed youths, the Congress in their manifesto had also assured the extension of 73rd and 74th amendments of the Indian Constitution to this state for empowerment of the Panchayats and local bodies, he added and also referred to the numerous other promises including with the migrants from Pak-occupied Kashmir as also the refugees from West Pakistan. After assuming power the leaders of the Congress have not only forgotten all these pledges but to keep the leadership of the National Conference in a good humour, they do not hesitate in opposing the bills and other moves by the BJP and others in the opposition when these issues are brought up in the Assembly.
At the meeting various problems facing the people and other issues also came up under discussion.
