JPSECA (P) for improving school education
5/18/2010 11:49:12 PM

EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, May 18: Coming down heavily on the alleged mismanagement and corruption in the education department, the Jammu Private School and ETT Colleges Association (Progressive) JPSECA(P) appealed to the Union Human Resource Development Minister to intervene and save the school education from further ruination.
In a press statement issued here by the association, its president Deep Singh stated that the HRD ministry has launched a lot of schemes and programs in the field of education and unlimited funds have been released but end results are not satisfactory because of their poor monitoring and rampant corruption at the state level.
He alleged that the greedy moves of the politicians result in the failure of school education in government sector almost completely at state level in so many ways including sub standard working of education Boards and indiscriminate opening of study centers.
Provisions laid down regarding the Pre-Primary Schools in a fresh notification of the State School Education Ministry vide no: Edu/-R-08/006 of dated: 18-03-2010 are quite contrary to the guide lines of the union HRD ministry which is a matter of concern. From which class a child should face the computer screen? Nowhere is it mentioned in the guide lines which is a need of the hour in view of computer's side effects on the eyes.
Mute spectator role of civil society in this regard is also shameful that often claims and expect too much without doing the needful. Ignorant attitude of the society and casual actions of the rulers are damaging the growth of our coming generations like any thing.
One of the most sensitive aspect in the above said context is the existing conditions of "Teacher Education" in the country which has gone worse due to 'corruption' in the high offices.
Teacher training courses like BEd, ETT or JBT are running almost fraudulently in most of Indian states including J&K.
Students enrolled for such courses prefer to sit at their homes and the authorities concerned are just sleeping over the issue because of 'corruption' or feeling helpless to act as majority of institutions are being run by the politicians or their kith and kin.
The association appealed to the Union HRD ministry to show its existence and come forward for a prompt action against the prevailing mess in the teacher education without any further delay.
