Strengthen existing infrastructure to face emergencies: Kotwal | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, May 18: Strengthen the existing infrastructure of various sections of the hospital so that these can withstand the additional pressures in the event of emergencies, including earthquake Stated Divisional Commissioner Dr. Pawan Kotwal. He was speaking at a meeting convened to discuss earthquake risk reduction measures at Government Medical College (GMC), Jammu, here this afternoon. He made a detailed analysis of vulnerable areas and listed remedial measures to be taken by different engineering wings for strengthening the building structure, water supply, electric supply and generation, compressed gas and pipeline, fire safety, false ceiling, sewerage besides hospital and biological waste management. The Divisional Commissioner asked for taking all measures to keep vital services functional in post disaster situation like ventilators, incubators, ICU, CCU, Dialysis, Blood Bank, Laboratories, Radio diagnosis, gas pipeline plants etc. He asked the GMC to start replant surgery for amputated body parts so that the people are not forced to approach outside state super specialist hospitals. He further asked the concerned executing agency to repair seepage portion of the hospital, besides replace damaged water supply pipes. He appealed the masses to maintain cleanliness around the hospital.
