Sainik Colony police post Monday in recognition of their "valuable" services for keeping crime in control and preventing burglaries. However, a day after this low-profile, but impressive function, police were caught napping when burglars broke into the house of Gurcharan Singh at Bhalla Enclave of Chhani Himmat and decamped with Rs 1.5 lakh in cash and 45 tolas of gold jewellery. The growing incidents of burglaries in Chhani Himmat, Sainik Colony and Gandhi Nagar are a matter of serious concern.
