Projecting J&K's "all is well image" outside | State all set to host mega event for Legislative dignitaries' of India | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, May 18: In what can be seen as one more step towards enhancing the 'positive' and 'normal' image about J&K, the NC led coalition government is all set to host a 'mega' event, first of its kind in the history of state which will see convergence of country's top dignitaries of Legislature, including Parliament and from all other states. The four day event, for apparent reasons to be hosted in Srinagar in June will have convergence of around 400 delegates from outside the state. After successfully holding some national level events in the past which saw huge participation of country's top politicians, bureaucrats, corporate tycoons and even country's cream of journalists in the Editor's Conference at Srinagar lasy, the Omar Abdullah government, it seems has felt encouraged and is quite upbeat of organizing few more, which will surely go in its kitty of 'selling a positive' image about the situation in this trouble torn state in a big way. While, the state government is desperately trying to woo tourists from across the state and different parts of the globe, organizing such events having presence of country's top level dignitaries, intellectuals doing their 'business' in a parallel manner will surely go in a big way to boost the 'normal' image about the state. That is what is perceived to be the idea and concept of the government behind hosting such mega events, even though these involve quite a huge amount of funds and expenditure in making the show grand 'success'. The Conference in technical terms christened as PO's (Presiding Officers) conference will see participation of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of Lok Sabha, Chairman, Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha, Secretary Genera's of both the Houses. Apart from country's Parliamentary's dignitaries, the Conference will also see presence of all the Speakers, Deputy Speakers and Secretaries from state Legislatures of all the states. Thse will include chairmen and Deputy Chairmen from Upper Houses of seven states of the country. The Conference will see arrival of guests from June 18 onwards and the conference will actually begin from June 19. However, the thrust of the specifics of the agenda will be focused during the last two days, that is June 21 and 22. " Surely it is going to be a very prestigious event…….we have started making preparations in a big way to make it a successful event", said Speaker of the J&K Assembly Mohammad Akbar Lone adding that the event has been organized at the behest of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah's direction. The event will certainly go in a big way sending the message to the outside world that things are quite normal and situation is conducive for hosting such conferences. The government, organizers feel, while trying to project 'good' and positive picture about the state, Kashmir in particular, wants to dispel the impressions of only bloodshed and violence that has been perpetuated in the state during last two decades. In the Conferences the delegates will quite apparently discuss about various aspects of conducting the Proceedings of the Legislative Houses and give their suggestions. The Conference will provide them a platform, perhaps for the first time in a big way to sit together but more important than this for the state government is that they shall carry along with them a "fresh and pleasant" pictures and image of the place called Paradise on the Earth.
