ABVP resents hike in JU fee structure | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, May 20: Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has rejected with strong words any move on the part of Jammu University (JU) authorities to raise fee in the various courses offered by the varsity. Addressing media persons here today, ABVP JU president Preeti Choudhary and secretary, Raman Sharma said that such an "anti-student" move would not be tolerated at any cost. Thet ABVP leaders demanded that JU authority should publish in press the details of per student expenditure and same should not be mixed with the facilities provided to teachers as ACs, coolers, heaters and other expenditure spent on extravagant programmes or unnecessary spending of money by the authority itself. They demanded 24-hour supply of water, electricity, internet and library facility for students instead of hike in fee. "Student fee should not be used as funds for unnecessary expenditure of university but even a small penny of student fee should be spent on raising facilities for students and improving infrastructure in the departments," they said. Referring to the ongoing controversy of deployment of police personnel on campus, the ABVP leaders said that the police should not be deployed at each and every department, neither there should be any unnecessary movement of police personal from one department to other as it creates a psychological bad impression not matching the profile of students and scholars.
