JMC continues drive against adulteration

JAMMU, May 20: Intensifying its drive to check the food adulteration in commonly used eatables and food items, a team led by Dr Mohd Anwar Chouwdhary, Health Officer of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) along with Food Inspectors inspected the various food establishments.
The team conducted surprise checking of ice cream parlours, rehries, fruit juice shops, sweet shops and dhabas in the areas of Residency Road, Shahidi Chowk, Jewel Chowk Canal Road etc.
During the inspection 58 food establishments were checked and a fine of Rs 3100 was realized on spot from 17 defaulters.
The team also destroyed 20 Kgs of sub-standard ice cream and 15 pieces of chipped crockery on spot.
The owners of food establishments are asked to ensure supply of pure and fresh quality of eatables and food items to the general public and besides maintaining standard of hygienic conditions in their premises failing which strict action will be taken against them under law.
