| VDC member-turned-burglar held | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, May 20: A village defence committee (VDC), entrusted with the job of protecting people from militants and burglars, today allegedly stole Rs 40,000 in cash from a house at Chhatroo in Kishtwar. Police said VDC member Sham Lal broke into the house of his neighbour Shola Ram at Chhatroo and decamped with Rs 40,000 in cash.He was, however, arrested after police came to know that the burglary had been committed by him.The stolen cash was also recovered from him.Police said a case was registered against him under the relevant sections of law.
