Failed students held with BOSE cheque book | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, May 20: Two failed students were today arrested by police for stealing cheque book from the board of school education (BOSE) office and then fraudulently withdrawing lakhs of ruppes from its account in JK Bank. Pushvinder Singh and Karun Raj, both residents of Bishnah, had failed in their 12th class examination which they had taken privately. While submitting their examination forms at the BOSE office, the duo allegedly stole a cheque book from a clerk's counter. Police sources said after stealing the cheque book, they found out that the BOSE had its account in the Lakhdata Bazar JK Bank branch.The duo used to withdraw Rs 10,000 to 20,000 from the bank after every week or so. The BOSE initially thought it was the handiwork of some of its employees and thus issued instructions to the bank to seal the account and help them find out who operated the account. Sources said today when the accused came to the bank with a BOSE cheque, the bank authorities immediately called up Pir Mitha police.Cops soon reached the bank and took both of them into custody, the sources added. During interrogation, they told police that they had fraudulently withdrawn lakhs of rupees from the BOSE account.He was later handed over to Bakshi Nagar police station. A case was registered against them under the relevant sections of law.
