Dalai Lama visiting Paddar first time | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, May 20: World revered spiritual Buddhist leader Dalai Lama 's visits to the J&K though not frequent, have till date been restricted to only one region of the state- Ladakh where he owns a house at Choglamsar and spends some time amidst followers there. But there is some good news for his ardent followers in Jammu region. The Buddhist leader is scheduled to visit this region, that too in farthest area of Paddar in district Kishtwar in the month of June. Paddar is the only area in Jammu which has thickly inhabited Buddhist population. The great Tibetan leader in whose presence people seek peace and spiritual solace will address a huge congregation in this area which for apparent reason is being given face lift in a special way. And these vast preparations which includes construction of a besides other logistics have been persistently been continuing for a long time. Courtesy Himalayan Buddhist Cultural Society, a non government organization which has not only taken the burden of making these preparations but prior to that taken the initiative of inviting and managing the visit of great spiritual leader to a far off area like Paddar. Unimaginable patience and an appreciable sense of conviction as it sounds, but truth remains that it has taken over a decade to Himalayan Buddhist Cultural Society (HBCS) to build and furnish this four-storey building specially for Dalai Lama's visit. The building has constructed at a cost of around Rs. 70 lakh for Dalai Lama, who will stay in there for one day. As the Tibetan leader is always accompanied by some more leaders who stay at his Indian Home in Dharamshalla, this newly constructed building also has provisions for their comfortable stay at Paddar. While these preparations are going on along with other logistics, the organizers are also giving full attention to the required security arrangements to make the historical visit of Tibetan leader to this region smooth and free of any untoward incident. The organization, it has been learnt is coordinating with government for requisite security arrangements and for finalizing other related aspects. Since Ladakh is the place with which Dalai Lam has remained connected on account of huge following of Buddhist population, a specially designed chair is being brought from this region for the spiritual leader on which he will remain seated while addressing the congregation and shower blessings to them. The chair, for which an order has already been put in place for skilled artisans is no ordinary one as it will be placed and revered by followers after the spiritual leader departs from Paddar. The chair is also being built on a huge cost, sources said. .While thousands of people, other than Buddhists are expected to participate in this congregation at the local level, many from across the state who believe in his preaching will throng this remote area days before his arrival, which is expected on June 5.Besides people from nearby states Punjab and Himachal Pradesh, particularly from Dharamshalla are eagerly looking forward to have a glimpse of and listen to his preaching and seek blessings by becoming a part of the event.
