Jan distributes cheques among 60 houseless families near LoC | Victims of LoC shelling given govt help | | Early Times Report Poonch, May 21: Atleast 60 families living on extreme Line of Control in Chaprian Sector of Poonch on Friday were given financial help from the government to construct their houses damaged during shelling prior to Cease Fire Agreement. Local MLA Aijaz Ahmed Jan, distributed these cheques among them in an impressive function near LoC. It is pertinent to mention here that all Chaprian residents were evacuated from the village during Kargil War when there was border tension in this area. The houses of these villagers had got damaged due to shelling . No when the guns turned silent, these villagers wanted to go back their villagers but they had no house to live in as all of them had been damaged. The villagers had cried several times for help. Now with the initiative of local MLA, Aijaz Ahmed Jan, these villagers were given government help to construct their houses. In this an impressive function was organized under the Fence Line in which MLA Aijaz Ahmed Jan distributed cheques among 60 families for constructing their houses. The Housing Assistance offered by the Rural Development Department will help in repairing their damaged houses and help them in having the dignified living conditions. Jan passed directions to Deepak Dubey, BDO Mandi to keep on priority the developmental activities in the border village. He was directed to take-up water harvesting and rural connectivity works in a Project approach for the holistic development of the village. Block Development Officer, was also directed to prepare the feasibility report of new project " Rajiv Gandhi Gramean Sewa Kendra" so that the construction work could be started at an earliest. A large number of Civil and Police Officers including the BMO Mandi were present on the occasion.
