Sports officer in verbal brawl with lady employee | Colleagues intervene to dissuade police intervention | | Early Times Report Jammu , May 21: Timely intervention by the staff spared many a blushes to the J&K State Sports Council as verbal brawl between Sports officer Jammu, Rajan Sharma and a lady sub ordinate staffer threatened to reach police women cell. The incident occurred the previous day, when the lady staffer, a junior assistant in the office of the sports officer Jammu, reportedly turned up in the office late by a few minutes, on which the said officer launched a scathing attack on her using abusive and derogatory language against the lady. The lady staffer objected to the language and aggressive posturing used by officer and broke down inconsolably. Her repeated pleas that she had reached office before many of her colleagues, who were not asked any questions fell on deaf ears. The lady then threatened to report to the women cell against her persistent and targeted harassment by the said officer. It was only due to the intervention of the colleagues that the embarrassing situation could be dissuaded. Sources in the Council divulged that the newly appointed incharge sports officer Jammu has been targeting the said lady ever since he assumed office. "He has been flouting all rules and regulations and behaving as a dictator as if he is not accountable to any one" said an employee of the council pleading anonymity. "With no Sports Council in place and office of the secretary moved to the summer capital, Rajan Sharma has become self styled monarch of the sports council in Jammu" he added. It is pertinent to mention here that Rajan Sharma, a boxing coach, was given charge of the office of the sports officer Jammu overlooking the seniority of Abdul Qayoom, a senior cricket coach who was reprimanded for making a representation against the injustice done to him.
