IAF choppers evacuate Reasi bus accident victims

NEW DELHI: In the wake of today's bus accident off Reasi that killed at least 15 people and hurt quite a few others, helicopters of Indian Air Force took part in rescue operations. The ill fated bus had fallen in a gorge near Bidda about 130 kilometres Northwards from Jammu while on way to Mahore from Reasi.
Soon after the tragedy the dead and injured were shifted to Jammu by IAF helicopters, Ministry of Defence issued a Press release in New Delhi saying, "Today a bus carrying about 35 passengers fell off the road in the Reasi Area of J&K sector resulting in few of the passengers getting killed and some others seriously injured."
"The IAF was quick to respond to the requisitioned air support and promptly launched two of its Chetak and a Mi-17 aircraft for the timely casualty evacuation operation flying out the injured and dead to Jammu."
