Doda is free of foreign ultras: Police | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, May 21: Police today claimed that with the killing of two Pakistani Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militants at Gandoh Wednesday, the Doda district was made free of foreign ultras. Now only two LeT militants were left in the district and operations were on to hunt them down too, police sources said. Apart from the two LeT militants, 24 Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) militants were also active in the district, the sources added. "LeT has almost been wiped out from the district and killing of two LeT commanders on Wednesday has given a big jolt to this militant outfit in the district," sources said. The aggressive attitude of security forces had pushed back militants in the district who were now searching ways for their survival and were avoiding direct contact with the forces, the sources added. HM in Doda was headed by Shah Din Khandey, who was active in the district for the past 19 years. He survived during all these years as he had maintained a distance from security forces, sources said. Sources said out of the 24 HM militants in Doda, 11 were without arms and ammunition and only 13 were having weapons. Khandey was also not communicating with any body and was not using any communication system. "But still we are trying to trap him and we have mobilized our all resources to get information about his whereabouts, the sources added.
