| 12th class girl student shoots self, serious | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, May 21: A day after a girl student committed suicide following failure in 12th class examination, another failed girl student today made an attempt on her life by shooting herself with a .12 bore gun at her residence near Kalakote in Rajouri.
Ranjana Kumari (18), daughter of Shiv Dev Singh of Sial Sui, Kalakote, failed in the 12th class examinations the results of which were declared Wednesday.
She was mentally depressed after her failure in exams. Today, she picked up her father's .12 bore gun and fired, pointing the gun muzzle at herself, police said.
The bullet pierced her stomach. Police said she was admitted to local hospital from where following deterioration in her condition, she was referred to the GMC Hospital here.
Her condition was stated to be stable by the doctors attending on her. Yesterday, Rashmi Sharma of Marh had ended her life by swallowing poison at her residence. She had failed in two subjects. Her father Ashok Sharma had demanded a probe into her answer sheets, saying she could not fail as she was a distinction holder in 10th and 11th class exams.
