Rape accused denied bail | | | Early Times Report Jammu, May 22: The court of Judicial Magistrate Akhnoor today rejected bail application of Photographer Deepak Choudhary who is facing charges of rape. According to the police, Deepak Chowdhury, a photographer confined the prosecutrix in his studio at Akhnoor on May 7, 2010. "The prosecutrix went to the studio to get her photo, the accused bolted the room and raped her. She was confined to the studio by the accused and threatened of dire consequences in case she disclosed what had happened in the studio. On the statement of the prosecutrix FIR 101/2010 u/s 376/342 RPC was registered and investigation launched. During the course of investigation the statement of witnesses have been recorded and accused was arrested. The prosecutrix was got medically examined." Judicial Magistrate Akhnoor, Khem Raj Sharma after hearing the Prosecuting Officer Anshuman Dubey who opposed the bail application observed: "Keeping in view the law/ principles laid down by the Apex Court of Country, admittedly the case against women are increasing in the society causing great alarm and in the present case without going into the merit of the case which are to be decided during the trial of the case, the accused has committed rape with a helpless poor girl who had gone to the photo studio to get herself photographed to enable her to fill an admission form of a stitching institute." With these observations Court dismissed the bail application. ----JNF
