Jammu, May 22: Religiously incorporated towards her undeterred pursuit to disseminate quality and state of art education to the Kendriya Vidalaya students as the institutional head, Usha Shamindra's professional ethic has a crowning glory attached to her aura that projects her as a woman of an artistic splendor too.
Versatility imbibed into her as the core vigor, the Principal Kendriya Vidalya Bantalab is a bundle of multifaceted propensities that propels her stature steps ahead of any normal individual being.
She, besides having risen through an impressive career in her academics as principal of a Central School, has a strong liaison with art that identifies her as an entity apart.
Her intimate and immediate affection with small anecdotes of contemporary environs are reflected through her undertakings in theatricals, which performed on various occasions had drawn fascination and high acclaim for having worked on the core issues requiring immediate concerns.
In a tête-à-tête with this ET correspondent, Usha Shamindra divulged on some amazing factors that chipped in for her consideration to be showcased though her art pursuits.
Here are the excerpts:
ET: Being a multitalented entity for having secured distinctions in sports, gymnasts and cadet corps' activities, why only performing arts?
US: It is a domain that offers a bigger insight into the variegated themes of the world affairs. It is a platform from where an artist can pronounce a revolution even by taking up challenges and exhibiting them through his or her talent. Then the material written to be performed holds great significance as to how it may catch audience attention to get its theme disseminated into the people. These all factors sup receded my interest in games and other activities as I recourse my integrities to theatre only.
ET: What are your memorable and performance effective instances that you still cherish or uphold as the turning point of your activities towards the golden heights?
US: My experience to work with Balwant Gargi and NSD scholars fetched me out of blues rewards as I turned out to be the only paid artist with them for my typical performances that earned me respect and money while all others always found it to be a dispensation to work under such names and banners. Also I worked with Satish Kaushik (noted Bollywood Actor/Director) as co-actor and also acted in documentaries along with Haryana and Punjab Government.
ET: The recent 'ballet play' written and directed by you performed by your school on annual function day gathered unprecedented appla-use. What was the idea conceived into it?
US: It was a theme based on safeguarding environment suffered adversely through the global warming and unnatural onslaught like terrorism and allied felonies. Tilted 'Bachey Man Kay Sachey', it reflected the agonise of the green world which was personified by the children as trees, flowers, birds and animals. Besides, in my other play- Kyon……Aakhir Kyon?" the subject revolves around the under privileged section of women - the facts that many of them remain unprivileged. They don't even get normal opportunities to get educated, to show their best in the life. They are being looked up as commodities rather than an individual. The play highlights the sacrifices made by a woman at different stages of her life.
ET: Is their any government support to your projects and also how simple is to manage Usha Sahmindra as a principal, as an artist and as a family woman.
US: My projects are my own creations and renditions only, but the recent annual day function's presentation had a WWF support to it as a project alliance to which our sincere gratitude are there. Besides, though it is a very tedious job to uphold the integrity of a principal, artist and family woman in one perspective, but I feel myself as fortunate enough to have full support from all quarters.
Usha Shamindra's forthcoming projects in theatre are more aggressive and are based on human intricacies. Native of Uttar Pradesh and presently posted as Principal Kendriya Vidalya Bantalab she has a long unending string of success attached to her pursuits. A gymnast during school time and an active participant in Scouts and Guides she also attended the International Jamburee at Kalyani near Kolkata. She was also a player of Table Tennis and College color holder in debates and declamations and was declared best actress of the college.
