Self style PRO, servant of minister arrested | | | Early Times Report JAMMU: Police today arrested two impersonators who duped a person and managed to take away Rs 50 thousand from him on the pretext of providing job to his son. The arrested duo posed as Public Relations Officer (PRO) and domestic help of Minister for Industries and Commerce Surjit Singh Slathia. Police arrested them after tracing their mobile numbers. Their interrogation was in progress to dig out more skeletons. According to police sources, one Swatantar Singh Jamwal son of Thakur Parsidh Singh of Suchani lodged a complaint with Nowabad police station alleging therein that a person claiming to be PRO to the Minister for Industries and Commerce had fraudulently took Rs 50,000 saying that a job in police department has been fixed for his son. Swatantar in his complaint alleged that a few days back he along with his son Vikramaditya went to the Minister's residence seeking employment for his son in police since a recruitment drive for constables in Jammu Kashmir Police was going on around that time. The complainant further alleged that when he was returning back to home after meeting the Minister a call on his cell phone was received by him from a person claiming to be the PRO. The self styled PRO asked the complainant on phone that his request has been approved by the Minister and instructed him to bring 6 passport size photographs of his son along with application form besides other requisite documents. PRO also demanded Rs One lakh for the work and asked for paying Rs 50,000 in advance. Accordingly, on May 1 last, Swatantar Singh handed over Rs 50,000 along with application form to one Yashpal son of Paras Ram of Gurgani, Purmandal, who posed as the servant of the Minister. He further said that after some days the alleged servant of the minister came to his residence and handed over a receipt of the form, which later on when verified turned out to be fake. After some days the alleged PRO again rang him up and demanded rest of the amount. The complainant approached the minister for the confirmation which he denied. On May 20, the matter was brought to the notice of Nowabad police and a team led by SHO Sajjad Khan under the supervision of SDPO West Mohan Lal Kaith rounded the name of the callers by tracing their mobile numbers and arrested the fake PRO of the minister. His identification has been established as Bharat Sharma son of Pitambar Sharma of 63, Pacci Dhakki Jammu. His co-accomplice Yash was also arrested by police. On their disclosure police also recovered the paid amount of Rs 50,000 from them. A case under section 419,420,468 of RPC stand registered against the accused
