Govt failed to provide basic amenities to people: Zulfikar | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT RAJOURI, May 23: MLA Darhal and district president of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Rajouri Choudhary Zulfikar has flayed the National Conference led coalition regime for its failure to provide basic amenities to the residents of Darhal assembly segment. Addressing a series of public meetings in his assembly area, Choudhary Zulfikar regretted that most of the schemes announced by the government confined only on papers as ruling parties are not interested to mitigate woes of the residents of Darhal area. Pointing towards acute shortage of drinking water in his constituency, Zulfikar expressed surprise that about 95 percent of water supply schemes in his constituency have been defunct due to the casual approach being adopted by the authorities. He further said that unscheduled power cuts have further compounded woes of the residents of this belt. Lambasting authorities for their failure to distribute food grains meant for BPL families, PDP MLA said that situation has been deteriorating with every passing day due to non availability of ration. MLA highlighted woes of the farmers and regretted that neither seeds nor fertilizers have been provided to them in the present sowing season. He also criticized the authorities for not providing health facilities to the residents of Darhal. "Health facilities are in complete shambles as most of the health centres are without staff", he said and pointed out that there is not even a single gynecologist for the population of more than 1.5 lakh. Choudhary Zulfikar further said that welfare schemes like NREGA failed to improve conditions of the people in Darhal segement due to prevailing red-tapism in the concerned departments.
