Arms haul busted in Surankote | | | Early Times Report Jammu, May 23: A huge quantity of arms, ammunition and explosive, including 25 kg RDX, a 4-kg IED (improvised explosive device) with remote and five IEDs fitted in pressure cooker, was recovered from two hideouts of militants in eastern Kishtwar and western Poonch districts of Jammu and Kashmir, police said here today. In Surankote area of Poonch district, security forces today busted a natural cave-type hideout of militants and recovered a huge quantity of arms, ammunition and explosive devices, police said. Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of polices Special Operations Group (SOG) and 16 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) unearthed a natural cave-type militants hideout in Chamrare forests near Dera Ki Gali (DKG), about 210 kms from Jammu. There was natural cave at Chhambwali Dhoke wherein a large quantity of arms, ammunition and explosive devices was stored by the militants a police officer told Security forces unearthed a hideout believed to be of Harkat-ul-Jehad-e-Islami (HUJI) outfits self-styled divisional commander, in Lopara Dachhan forests of Marwah in mountainous Kishtwar district, police said. The forces recovered 25 kg RDX, one AK-47 with three magazines and 239 rounds, three 12-Bore rifles, nine primer cap 12 Bore ammunition, one live round of 12-bore rifle, one RPG round , one 4-kg IED with remote, five IEDs fitted in pressure cooker, one hand-held radio set, 10 meter cordex wire, three pencil cells, 13 sniper rounds, 20 gelatin sticks,10 rifle grenades, three Chinese hand grenades, 28 explosive charge bead, one knife, one rain cap, a jacket and one blanket. HUJI commander Dawood, a resident of Tender Dachhan in Kishtwar, was killed by the security forces on February 4 this year, police said, adding no arrest had been made in connection with the recovery so far.
