| Inter-zone sports meet of district Kathua | | ------------------------------ Hiranagar to face Lakhanpur in U-17 kho-kho final | |
KATHUA, May 24: Hiranagar zone shall lock horns against Lakhanpur in the final of under-17 kho-kho event in the inter-zone (boys) competitions of Kathua district which went underway in two age groups of under-14 and under-17 at Hiranagar today.
Earlier, in the semi-finals, Lakhanpur trounced Basohli by a margin of eight points while Hiranagar defeated zone Basohli by four points. In the preliminary rounds, Bilawar zone beat Kathua by 18 points and Sallan zone beat Malorti by 12 points.
Meanwhile, in the under-17 kabaddi event, Kathua shall be playing against zone Hiranagar in the final tomorrow. In another event of under-14 kabaddi, zone Kathua sailed into the final.
Earlier, the competitions were declared open by Member Legislative Assembly (MLC), Subash Gupta. In his address he announced donation of six fans to sports complex.
In her welcome report, District Youth Youth Services and Sports Officer Kathua, Kanchan Bala presented a brief note of the competitions, which are being held under the supervision of Zonal Physical Education Officer Hiranagar, Kiran Jyoti.
In all, 11 zones of the district are taking part in this four-day (boys and girls) tournaments in three events of kabaddi, kho-kho and volleyball.
